We ‘re introduced to the film’s main character, Wilson (played by Woody Harrelson) by various shots of his messy house, full of book piles, garbage, VHS tapes and a poster of John Huston’s Moby Dick (1956). About a minute later, Wilson passes by a movie theatre advertising Vittorio De Sica’s classic Umberto D. (1952).
