José Padilha won the Golden Bear in 58th Berlin Internation Film Festival (2008) for Elite Squad. He received his prize by this year’s Jury president, Greek director Costa-Gavras who loved and appreciated the film. In Elite Squad’s sequel, Padilha honours Gavras by featuring a scene outside a movie theatre where a retrospective of his films is shown.
