Nicholas Roeg began his references to J. Lee Thompson’s classic thriller, Cape Fear, with the opening shot of his film – the bridge of Cape Fear river.

He continued minutes later with a shot of this iconic sign.

And he completed his homage later when the actual film is playing on TV in Theresa Russell’s house.
